Everyone knows the problem… after a backup, a VSS writer shows an error in the system, and you can’t restart the server because it’s in use!
How do I reset the writer and bring it back to a stable state?
Check which writer is in error status using the following command:
vssadmin list writersWith this command you will find all VSS writers, and their status should be „Stable.“
Otherwise, they have an error.
You need to restart the following service to restore the corresponding writer to „stable“ status.
